Andrew Walsh
As Health Monitoring Systems’ Chief Science Officer, Andy is responsible for investigation and identifying techniques to further characterize and predict health conditions—with the goal to simplify and streamline public health monitoring. Andy is an accomplished and sought-after industry speaker who has presented at symposiums including the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists Annual Conference and the Annual International Society for Disease Surveillance Conference.
Andy graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a PhD in Molecular Microbiology and Immunology. His blend of computer science and public health knowledge is extremely valuable to our clients. Andy’s interest in statistics, as well as computational and analytical modeling techniques, supports his goal to improve the quality of healthcare by utilizing easily-accessible data streams. 
He is a member of the International Society for Disease Surveillance and the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists, and has received numerous awards for his research.
Before joining HMS in 2008, Andy worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Computer Science and as a Graduate Student at Johns Hopkins University’s Bloomberg School of Public Health.
